Bargain Villa in Iraq? not likely mate.

I was cleaning out my long list of favourites and saw this old link to a short boingboing.net story from 2004.

The gist of it being that you could buy a sweet villa, complete with extras like an air raid bunker in the basement for $665,000, BARGAIN!

So i clicked on it anyway and sadly the property page said:

"Sorry, this property is no longer available"

Then i clicked on the link just below it to see what else was on offer in the villa department for Iraq, and this page came up http://www.viviun.com/AD-113520/

I couldnt believe it, its the same damn property, but the price tag has gone up to $720,000!!!!
A jump of almost 55,000 in 4 years for a property in Baghdad!
How the hell is their property appreciating in value with a war going on?
And then theres the fact that the villa itself is a ugly beast of a building inside and out!

I was kinda expecting something more extravagant for that price tag/location, maybe somethings like this:

Apparently theres a big fuss over this thing.
If you've not heard of it, and im speaking to you directly because its not likely that anyone but you will read my blog *sighhhh*,
The LHC is a big ass ring that the big wigs are hoping to use to find the higgs boson particle aka the "god particle" which could lead to a deeper understanding of how the universe works. etc. etc. blah blah blah.
I dont understand why theres such panic really, we should be looking for the silver lining!

I suggest that we go stand in the middle of this ring.
Why you ask? We'll if comics have have taught me nothing, and they have, its that this is a prime location for the creation (we'll say accidental) of a super powered superhero!

next wait for sept 10th when theyre flicking the switch... (and if they have any style at all itll be like a mad scientist or maybe Joker style "and hereee weeee GO!" but with considerably more fireworks)

With the size of this installation id be hoping for Doctor Manhattan type powers, who the world will soon know if the new Watchmen film ever gets out....
